Labiaplasty Surgery
Labiaplasty is reshaping and usually reducing of the labia minora (inner labia) (most commonly) and/or labia majora (outer labia).
Labiaplasty can be performed under local anaesthetic (while you are awake but the area is numbed) or general anaesthetic. It is a day case procedure.
Labiaplasty can improve physical comfort of the genital area including in tighter clothing, during exercise, during sexual intercourse, less visibility of labia in swimwear and tighter clothing, less self-consciousness including during intimacy.

It takes 1 to 1.5 hours to do a labiaplasty. If both labia minora (inner labia) and majora (outer labia) are having a labiaplasty, it may take around 2 hours.
There will be some swelling and discomfort during the early recovery. You will have a sanitary pad in your underwear and specific hygiene and wound care instructions during this time. We advise 1 to 2 weeks off work, 4 weeks off most exercise and 6 weeks off cycling, horse-riding and sexual intercourse.

Complications specific to labiaplasty include sensory changes, imbalance of the vulval area (female external genital area) if too much is removed and other complications such as healing problems, irritation or infection or bleeding.
