Rhinoplasty Surgery
Rhinoplasty is reshaping of your nose. This may be done to improve breathing for example if your septum is deviated and blocking air flow internally or after trauma or it may be done to improve the shape or correct the shape after trauma or to change the size of your nose. Many people have a mixture of all these reasons behind their decision to have a rhinoplasty.
The benefits of rhinoplasty include improved breathing, improvement of nose shape or both. This can have a major impact and improvement in quality of life..

A rhinoplasty takes between 1 and 3 hours to perform. It is done under general anaesthetic as a day case procedure.
You will have a protective splint over your nose for one week and usually tapes for a further week to help with swelling. There is a six-week recovery period during which precautions are needed to avoid trauma, reduce swelling and allow healing to progress well. This includes restrictions on exercise. After that restrictions are lifted. Most of the swelling has reduced by then but the final resolution of swelling takes around one year to fully go (low levels after the first six to eight weeks).
Improvement of breathing through your nose and/or the shape and size of your nose
Rhinoplasty has some complications associated with it. As well as the risks of any surgery such as bleeding, infection and healing issues, the following can happen after rhinoplasty surgery: problems with breathing, problems with the nose bones or cartilage healing, incomplete correction or recurrence of deviation/crookedness and unhappiness with the appearance after surgery. A more complete discussion of risks will take place during your consultation so that you understand them ahead of surgery.
