The Purity Bridge team was thrilled to host our annual BIG PINK Breast Awareness Event in collaboration with Cripps at their beautiful new offices. This has become a regular fixture in the calendar of many women from the wider Tunbridge Wells area and beyond, all in support of Breast Cancer Care UK.
As before, the evening was a huge success, well attended and we raised a positive donation that will be beneficial to the constant research and support of so many woman challenged with Breast Cancer daily.
The social gathering included informative talks and guidance. With the help of our kind volunteer Ruth, Mr Haresh Devalia, Consultant Breast & Oncoplastic Surgeon demonstrated how to examine your breasts correctly. He pointed out the signs to lookout for and the changes that can occur if breast cancer develops.
Purity Bridge Consultant Plastic Surgeons, Nora Nugent and Marc Pacifico continued the evening using their expertise to explain the options available to women for post-breast cancer reconstruction, and restorative breast surgery. Our second volunteer Debra bravely gave us an insight into her breast cancer experience and the reconstruction options that set her life back on track.
The messages were clear – check your breasts regularly, take part in screening mammograms when the time comes, and seek help and advice from your GP early if you suspect any changes.
The general feeling at the end of the night was that we all know someone and that we are all affected in some way.
Make a note in your diary for the October 2019, the annual Purity Bridge BIG PINK event, all in aid of Breast Cancer Care UK.
